Finger Lickin' Good
BELGRADE (April 27) - A Serbian union official who chopped off his finger and ate it in a protest over wages that in some cases have not been paid in years, said Monday he did it to show how desperate he and other workers were.
"We, the workers, have nothing to eat. We had to seek some sort of alternative food and I gave them an example," Zoran Bulatovic told Reuters. "It hurt like hell."Skip over this content
Bulatovic, a union leader at the Raska Holding textile factory in Novi Pazar in southwest Serbia, used a hacksaw to cut off most of his left-hand little finger Friday.
Bulatovic said he decided to act after his deputy, "a single mother of three, was the first to say she would cut off her finger. I could not allow her to do that," he said.
State-owned Raska Holding was a major textile producer in the late 1980s with a workforce of 4,000. It suffered during the collapse of the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s and a loss of markets and mismanagement during a decade of wars and sanctions led to massive job cuts, leaving the company with just 100 workers.
Some employees have not been paid for years, only collecting social benefits, like free medical care.
About two dozen workers went on a 19-day hunger strike last year. They want the company's debt to be swapped for state-held equity and a welfare program for those nearing retirement.
Bulatovic said his comrades will not back down from their demands, but they will postpone planned self-mutilations at least until talks with government officials in Belgrade expected Tuesday.

Ruppy Short For Ruby Puppy, A Cloned Beagle
A cloned beagle named Ruppy – short for Ruby Puppy – is the world's first transgenic dog. She and four other beagles all produce a fluorescent protein that glows red under ultraviolet light.

Can Marijuana Stop Dementia?
Dementia is a typical problem of the brain where memory of the person gets affected and is unable to recollect or remember anything. This condition is characterized by loss of memory, difficulty in communication and most importantly trouble in performing daily activities. Dementia mainly occurs due to inflammation in part of brain cells. This inflammation or brain cells destruction can occur due to sudden stroke, brain tumor or even head injury. Dementia can be the result of natural process of aging or due to damage of cells because of Alzheimer’s disease. Several research studies indicate that inflammation in brain may accelerate dementia.
A new research study suggests that parts of marijuana have proved to be beneficial in treating memory loss. It has been seen that some constituents of marijuana has anti-inflammatory properties and it is this characteristic of marijuana that can help in treating inflammation in brain cells. Inflammation of brain cells is a part of aging but there can be situations when inflammation goes out of control and that results in deadly diseases such as dementia or even Alzheimer.
In an experiment by a group of scientists, synthetic drug with components similar to marijuana were administered to a group of rats. The result showed that both young and old rats exhibited considerable improvement in memory with even reduced inflammation of brain cells in some old rats. There were other experiments as well that showed drug acted on parts of brain that was responsible for appetite, memory, mood and even pain.
Research studies from Ohio State University conclude that a synthetic drug similar to marijuana triggers production of brain cells and neurons and help cut inflammation. The most important component of marijuana is the chemical tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Medicines based on this chemical compound have been in use to keep dementia at bay, and this is proven and widely accepted.
There are also evidences that suggest people who smoked marijuana in 1960s and 1970s rarely developed memory loss or Alzheimer’s disease. However use of marijuana cannot be recommended because of its psychoactive properties. The challenge is to find a drug or a synthetic substitute to marijuana without its negative impact that is without making the patients feel dizzy and high as in the case of smoking marijuana. So the need is to find a compound that will help treat neurogenesis and inflammation in an efficient way to produce best results.
However, the focus as of now is to find a pill or pills that will reduce brain inflammation without adverse effects of marijuana.

Don't Drink The Water In Florida!
One-eyed, 3-legged alligator found on Fla. beach

SEACREST BEACH, Fla. -It sounds more like something out of a freak show: a one-eyed, 3-legged alligator. The gator was captured Thursday morning in Seacrest Beach by Walton County officials. The animal was less than five feet long and had somehow found its way to the beach.
A family visiting from Chicago called it the perfect day at the beach. They learned how to tell apart an alligator from a crocodile.
The rare gator was taken to a safe location and returned without harm to the wild.

Today?
Today is Earth Day, a day to help Mother Earth.
What are you going to due today to help her?
Myself, I'm setting here with all the power off except in the living room where my computer is.
Debbie and I try to conserve, reduce and recycle all year long.
I would love to get this rain water tank for my yard to water the lawn and my garden , it'll cut down on my water bill in the Summer plus reduce the waste of drinkable water being used on the yard.
We also take our own tote bags to the grocery store instead of using their plastic bags.
Now If only I can find away to recycle Debbie's Chicken Cacciatore!

Green House Gases

Rectum? Damn Near Killed Him!
I'm Telling you people, Johnny G. is in a bad way right now!
Someone pulled an April fools joke on me a little late, a bad joke but a joke never the less.
After squeezing half of a tube of Preparation H up my ass and cleaning the applicator I realized that someone replaced the tube with Fixodent Denture Adhesive!
Let's just say I'm more anal retentive now then I ever was!

The Party Is Over But The Band Played On
Debbie and I went to a Memorial Benefit for my friend's son Russell yesterday at Post 609 American Legion.
Gave our sincere condolences to all of the family members and was seated to a nice buffet , plenty of beer and jello shots.
Hey at 10 bucks ahead I'm in plus it was going to a good cause.
We've seen people that we haven't seen in a few years.
They had raffles and 50/50's with a lot of good stuff to take home.
Well Johnny G. got shit faced and headed to the kara-chokey machine and was stopped by Debbie, she told me to sit down , these poor people went through enough with out you tormenting them with song.
We were having fun until you remembered what you were there for, The Final Goodbye A Salute and a Prayer.
